Shine Hampshire are a friendly group of adults with cancer who meet up once a month in Hampshire to spend time with other people who just ‘get it’. Our meet ups change monthly and we do a variety of activities such as, pubs, cafe’s, walks, craft, meals, etc. We’re run by volunteer Network Leaders who have their own diagnosis and we would love new people to come along and join us!

Meet Hampshire’s volunteer network leader, Jenna!
“Hi my name’s Jenna and I’m the Hampshire Network Leader. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 3 days before Christmas 2020 and had 6 rounds of chemotherapy, surgery and then radiotherapy all at the height of the pandemic. As I couldn’t go out and find support, I found Shine’s Breakout Programme online. I felt so at home meeting other people who just ‘get it’. I then decided to go to Shine camp where I had such an amazing time and met so many awesome people who were using their lived experience to support others. I wanted to give back to the amazing organisation that helped me through such a tough time so I finally took the plunge and became the Hampshire Shine Network Leader in 2024. Cancer is not a fun thing to go through, but the people I have met through Shine all seem to share a wicked sense of humour that resonated with me. What’s great about meet ups is that there are lots of laughs but also space to talk about issues that close friends and family may not understand.”
