Yes it’s completely free to register! All we ask is that you aim to hit your chosen challenge’s fundraising target to help us to continue our support of young adults in their 20s, 30s, and 40s affected by cancer.

You absolutely can sign up to Step Up for Shine as part of a team!

You can sign up to ‘Step Together’ where you’ll have a total target of £700. Every team member can pick the challenge that suits them best to complete. All we ask is that when you sign up, you let us know how many team members will be taking part and which challenges you will each be taking on. We can also give you guidance around setting up a team fundraising page on JustGiving so if this is something you’d find helpful, drop us an email at fundraising@shinecancersupport.org.

You don’t have to take on the same challenge as the rest of your team. You can mix n’ match your challenge and, if you’re feeling like you need a hand with completing your mission, others in your team are more than welcome to take on the remainder of your challenge for you!

Absolutely! The challenges we’ve set vary so that as many people as possible can get on board however you don’t have to increase your step count to Step Up for Shine! We’ve included ‘Move Your Way’ where you can create your own challenge – whether it be a physical goal or a creative quest, you can accept the challenge in any way you feel most comfortable.

There are plenty of resources available! We will reach out to you once you’re all signed up to say hello, help you to set up your JustGiving page, and send across everything you need. This will include our Step Up for Shine fundraising and digital resources packs which include posters, fundraising statistics, selfie props, and bunting to promote your challenge.

We will use the funds raised by the wonderful participants of Step Up for Shine to develop and grow our existing services and to kickstart future projects. For example, £10 could connect a young adult with cancer to a local Shine group for support​, £50 could give 1 hour of counselling to a young adult with cancer, and £80 could pay for 2 young adults to come along to our annual camping weekend.

Luckily, we’re in an age where we are totally spoilt for choice when it comes to step counting tech! It’s totally up to you but here are a few that we can recommend.

• Strava – join our Step Up For Shine Strava Club
• Running watches – a few we recommend are FitBit, Apple Watch, and Garmin

Take on your challenge however you like whether that be walking, running, or dancing! We have an Inspiration Hub in our Step Up for Shine Fundraising Pack where you can find some suggestions and tips that may help you to get started.

Not only will you have smashed it for Shine helping us to support more young adults facing cancer but if you hit £100 in fundraising, we’ll send you a free Shine badge that you can wear with pride! If you hit your mission’s fundraising target, we’ll send you a free Shine t-shirt!

Of course! Since you have complete control over the routes you take to hit your step count, you can absolutely bring along your furry friend for moral support!
