Age 20 to 28
Join our 6-week online Reset Programme
Our Reset programme gives you the chance to connect with others in their twenties while also getting useful information and support.
this programme is about dealing with the impact of cancer, no matter where you are in your cancer experience. You may be going through treatment, recently finished, or finished treatment a few years ago. We know that feeling too old for teenage and young adult (TYA) support, but too young for adult services can be a difficult place to be. The Reset programme offers you a chance to share that experience with others who get it.
Our next Reset programme will run for six weeks on Wednesday evenings (6.30-8.30pm) from 20th January 2027. Applications will open later in the year.

About the programme
The Reset programme gives you the opportunity to meet others who are going through the same thing. We know that being in your 20s with cancer can be lonely and difficult and we’re hoping this programme will help you make connections and feel less isolated.
We’d like to offer this programme to as many people as possible who haven’t already accessed similar support, so it’s not open to people who have already been on one of our online programmes.
How does it work?
Each Reset group will have up to 12 people. We’ll meet weekly online for 2 hours over six weeks. Each week, we’ll spend some time chatting, discussing different topics and looking at useful tools for coping. But we’ll have fun too and we promise it won’t be gloomy.
When is it?
Our next Reset programme will run on Wednesday evenings (6.30-8.30pm) from 20th January 2027. Applications are open now!
How much does it cost?
It’s free! Yes, really! We will ask everyone who participates to pay a refundable £50 deposit. Because these are small groups and our programmes are always oversubscribed, we’re asking for a deposit so that we can confirm your spot and make sure others don’t lose out. Please don’t let the deposit put you off applying. If you’re tight on cash, just let us know. We can work something out!
Questions?
Drop us a line at hi@shinecancersupport.org and we’ll get back to you asap.

Why did you decide to sign up for the Reset Programme?
I’ve always been very open and willing to talk about my cancer. A TikTok of mine went viral and I had loads of people reach out to me sharing their stories. I quickly built many connections online, but I realised they were quite surface level and I felt very lonely. My CNS recommended I get in touch with Shine and, when I saw Shine ran support programmes, I didn’t hesitate to apply.
How did you find the programme? What will stay with you?
A moment I will never forget is when we were asked to write our emotions relating to our diagnoses on Post-it notes and one-by-one place them on the wall. As we each put a Post-it on the wall, we all nodded and agreed that we’d felt that way before. Knowing that others felt annoyed, isolated, and ashamed, yet also loved, supported and grateful made me feel less alone. The programme really served as a springboard for me to process what I was going through. I was fresh out of treatment when I started Reset, still waiting for my PET scan. I’d always tried to be positive, convincing myself that it wasn’t that bad. Reset helped me to understand the weight of what I’d been through, and I knew I wasn’t alone.
What would you say to someone else who is thinking of signing up, but perhaps feeling nervous or wondering if it is for them?
Cancer isn’t always something you want to talk about. It’s not pleasant and can be rather challenging. But knowing that there are other people out there of a similar age with shared experiences who just get it – it made me feel less isolated. No one deserves to feel alone with cancer.

Why did you decide to sign up for the Reset Programme?
I decided to sign up as I was always the youngest in waiting rooms or whenever I was going for treatment, and I was finding that feeling increasingly lonely. I wanted to meet people who were a more similar age to me and could relate to what I was going through better.
How did you find the programme? What will stay with you?
I found the programme so helpful. I would say the most useful part was just having a chance to speak to people who really understand what you are going through. You don’t have to filter anything or dress it up, you can just say things like they are. I found the session on identity especially helpful. It was nice to talk to others about what makes us who we are, instead of just being identified by my cancer.
What would you say to someone else who is thinking of signing up, but perhaps feeling nervous or wondering if it is for them?
I would say 100% sign up and give it a try. Everyone was so lovely and I finished every call feeling so much less alone. I feel like I really connected with the people in my group. I was so nervous before the first session but after a few minutes that really went away and I settled into it. The Shine facilitators are brilliant and make everyone feel welcome and safe. I honestly couldn’t recommend it more.
