Cancer Experiences, Chronic cancer

Chronic cancer – those cancers that can be controlled for many (5+ years) either through treatment or ‘watch and wait’ can be hard for many people to understand. Chronic cancers typically include chronic blood cancers (chronic myeloid leukaemia, myeloma) but can also include melanoma, some types of ovarian cancer, and even brain tumours.

We know that living with a chronic cancer can be tough because they’re not well understood. People may ask you when you’re finishing treatment, why you haven’t lost your hair, or not understand how living with cancer can affect your energy levels.

Our guide to living with chronic cancer was written by and for people who are living with it. If you’d like to connect with others living with chronic cancer, do check out our Chronic Cancer Group which meets up regularly online.
