How does Rise & Shine work?
Rise & Shine gives you the opportunity to support young adults facing cancer…just by hosting brunch!
It’s simple – sign up for your free event. It includes everything you need such as tips, recipes, decorations and invitations. Pick a date, invite your nearest and dearest, and enjoy a morning filled with delicious food and drinks.
Once everyone’s plates are clear, ask your guests to donate what they’d usually spend on brunch (or a little more if they can!) You can set up a JustGiving page to direct them to and suggest a donation amount of £20 each. Each cuppa, croissant and conversation helps Shine to build a community ensuring that no young adult needs to face cancer alone.

Yes it’s completely free to register! All we ask is that you aim to hit your £100 fundraising target to help us to continue our support of young adults in their 20s, 30s, and 40s affected by cancer.

When should I host my Rise & Shine brunch?
This year, we hereby declare that the 30th of May 2027 is our official Rise & Shine day!
While you can host your brunch anytime from the beginning of April to the end of June, we’re encouraging Rise & Shine participants to host their brunch on the 30th May to share the Shine love! We hope you’ll join the community in raising funds and awareness for young adults facing cancer all together with lots of good food, drinks, and conversation.
Can I organise a Rise & Shine brunch at my workplace or as part of a team?
You absolutely can! It can take a whole village to organise events so we completely understand if you need an all-hands-on-deck approach to your day.
Do I need to purchase food and drink for my event?
You can arrange your event however you’d like to! You could prep everything yourself if you enjoy cooking and hosting, or you could ask friends and family to each bring a dish of their choice. Be sure to take attendees dietary requirements into consideration whilst you prepare for the day.
Are there any resources available to help me with my fundraising?
There are plenty of resources available! Megan (our Fundraising Manager) will reach out to you once you’re all signed up to say hello, help you to set up your JustGiving page, and send across everything you need. This will include our Rise & Shine Recipe Book and some digital resources such as posters, fundraising statistics, selfie props, cake flags, and bunting. You can also find our fundraising pack on this page that you’re more than welcome to download and use as many times as you like.
Where will my fundraising go?
We will use the funds raised by the wonderful participants of Rise & Shine to develop and grow our existing services and to kickstart future projects. For example, if you hit your £100 target, this could get 10 people connected to Shine through their local Shine Network.
What can I do to fundraise at my Rise & Shine brunch event?
Get creative and raise funds at your brunch event however you’d like to. Invite your nearest and dearest along and ask them to give what they’d normally spend on a brunch to you! You can set up a JustGiving page to direct them to and suggest a donation amount of £20 each. You could also host a raffle, or you could keep a donation box out on the table throughout the day for people to add to if they wish. There are a few other ideas on our website that may fit in nicely with your brunch event which you can find HERE.
What can I use to organise a larger Rise & Shine brunch?
It’s great to hear you’d like to host a big brunch!
For this kind of event with lots of guests, some Rise & Shine hosts have used Eventbrite. It can be a helpful way to manage your guest list and collect their donations all in one place. You can create a ‘Donation’ ticket type.
Please note that if you do choose to use Eventbrite, they will charge service fees on all ticket sales. Organising your brunch on Eventbrite is your responsibility. The Shine team isn’t able to arrange this or help you manage the process.

Once you’ve hit your £100 fundraising target, we’ll send you a free Shine badge. We hope that you’ll also be extremely proud of yourself for raising funds and awareness for young adults facing cancer.
Should I share photos from my brunch event?
Absolutely! We’d love to see what you get up to! Please send in your photos to fundraising@shinecancersupport.org. If you’re happy for us to share them on our social media channels once your brunch is over to rave about you, please let us know!
