Shine has unveiled a new logo and website today. We’re really excited to share it with our members and supporters. It’s a big change and we hope you’ll grow to love it as much as we do!
Why are we rebranding?
Shine has come along way since it started in 2008 as a non-traditional support group for young adults with cancer in Dorset. We’ve loved each of our logos but as we enter our fourth year as a registered charity, we feel that the time is right to refresh our image. We want to make sure that both our logo and our website reflect not only who we are now, but also where we hope to be in the next five years.
In designing the logo, we were incredibly lucky to receive pro bono support from Joseph Burrin, a graphic designer based in Amsterdam. Joe has worked with some of the world’s top brands, including Coca Cola, Nike and Heineken so we were delighted that he decided to work with us! We wanted something that was fun and bright, that reflected our support of both men and women, and something that was recognisable whether we had the words ‘Shine Cancer Support’ next to it or not. Our new logo also builds on our earlier logos, both of which featured circles (the first was a disco ball!).
At Shine, we’re working to make sure that young adults who have experienced a cancer diagnosis in their 20s, 30s and 40s get the information and support that they need, in a way that suits their lifestyles. Over the past few years, we have supported hundreds of men and women but there is still much more work to do; 30,000 adults aged 25 to 49 are diagnosed with cancer in the UK each year and we’re determined to reach as many of them as we can.
We’ll be rolling out our new logo over the next few months and also announcing a number of exciting new activities. In the meantime, we’re sending a huge thank you to everyone who has helped us get this far. Whether you’ve fundraised for us, joined our community, volunteered for us, or just told someone about us, we couldn’t have got to this point without you.
