Emma had a long career in banking prior to starting Shine. Her work included risk and compliance management across a region of 80 branches, as well as working as a branch manager. She also carried out high level fraud investigations and disciplinary hearings. She is an experienced trainer and has designed and delivered training for a range of organisations including Macmillan, Breast Cancer Care, the NHS and Cornwall Council. She has qualifications in cancer support and advanced coaching.
Emma was voluntary Chair of the Dorset Cancer User Involvement Group through which she worked to improve patient engagement across Dorset and Wessex. In 2013 she was awarded a fellowship from the School for Social Entrepreneurs and, in 2015, she was named as Dorset’s Most Inspirational Woman.
Emma was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 29 and started Shine shortly afterwards. She currently acts as Shine’s Co-CEO and oversees all of the support provided to Shine’s local Networks.
